Privacy policy

Your images never leave your Mac. That's the policy.

Last updated: July 5, 2026. The short version: we do not collect, sell, or share your personal data, and your images never leave your computer unless you explicitly send them somewhere.

SnapStudio is a native macOS image editor built to work on your Mac, not on our servers.

What stays on your Mac

All editing — layers, filters, AI upscaling, background removal, auto-enhance, batch processing — runs locally using Apple's frameworks and on-device machine-learning models. Your photos, projects, and edit history are files on your Mac. SnapStudio has no account system and no analytics.

Optional features that use the network

  • AI image generation and analysis (optional): if you add your own OpenAI or Anthropic API key, your text prompt (and, for analysis, the selected image) is sent to that provider under your account and their privacy policy. Keys are stored in the macOS Keychain and used only for your requests.
  • Stock photos (optional): searching Pexels sends your query to Pexels using your own API key.
  • Update check (direct-download version only): the app periodically fetches our update feed. No personal data is included.
  • Crash reports (direct-download version only, strictly opt-in): if you enable crash reporting in Preferences, anonymized crash logs are sent to Sentry to help us fix bugs. No images, file names, or personal data are attached. It is off by default.

App Store version

The Mac App Store build is sandboxed, contains no update or crash-report mechanism, and declares "no data collected" in its App Store privacy label — which matches the bundled privacy manifest.

Purchases

Direct-download licenses are sold via Lemon Squeezy, our merchant of record; payment details are handled by them under their privacy policy. App Store purchases are handled entirely by Apple.
